PVDF heat shrink tubing is used in applications where continuous operating temperatures are 150-175°C. It is used where outstanding abrasion and cut-through resistance are required. We carry two types of PVDF tubing, which conform to either MIL-DTL-23053/18 Class 2 or MIL-DTL-23053/8.

PVDF is available in flexible (150°C) and semi-rigid (175°C) forms, in a 2:1 shrink ratio.

PVDF Heat Shrink is RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Compliant (PDF) PDF

  • Maximum continuous operating temperature 302°F (150°C or 175°C)
  • Superior chemical and aging resistance
  • UV and gamma ray stable
  • Flame rating: UL94-V0 and VW-1
  • Lowest coefficient of friction available besides PTFE
  • Flexible PVDF has MIL-DTL-23053/18 Class 2 approval

Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI)
The ratio of how much oxygen - as compared to other gases - needs to be present in the air surrounding a particular material in order for that material to burn. The fact that Earth's normal atmospheric air contains around 21% oxygen is used a reference point when materials are classified into burn categories that are based on Limiting Oxygen Index. Substances that are combustible in air containing less than 21% oxygen are considered flammable, while those that burn in the range of anything greater than 21% but less than 28% are typically labeled "slow burning". Any material with an LOI that exceeds 28% is classified as self-extinguishing.
