The Difference Between Desk Outlets and Desk Grommets
Desk outlets are devices that make connections like USB, power, and Ethernet safer and easier to access. You don’t have to worry about tripping over wires or making a mess; just plug into the desk outlet and all the cables from the unit to the power receptacle or net connection are neatly run under the desk. Truthfully, the thought of a bunch of people in business dress crawling under a table looking for power and data connections is amusing, but we’ll just try to keep that in our thoughts.
Many desks either come with predrilled holes on the desktop for running cables. Some cable holes are drilled by the user. A desk grommet is basically ring placed inside a cable hole in the desk to protect the cables from abrasion. They are available in plastic, wood, metal, and rubber, depending on what look/feel the user is going for.
