Q&A “What’s the Best Way to Route Fiber Optic Cables Safely?”

Hey, it’s Anthony again from CableOrganizer®, back with a question we received from one of our amazing customers. And that is, “What’s the best way to route fiber optic cables safely?” Now, when you’re routing fiber optic cables, it’s important to protect their delicate glass cores from sharp bends, environmental damage, and other stressors that can interrupt your transmission. One factor you’ve got to consider is bend radius. Bending their glass fibers too tightly can break them, and lead to signal loss. Make sure curves are gradual and avoid sharp corners. If you’ve got questions, follow manufacturer recommendations for minimum bend radius. Strain relief is a second factor, which is taking pressure off cables with products like VELCRO® ONE-WRAP® hook and loop straps (here: https://lnkd.in/eSz_EVgT). Techflex® Flexo® Thin Braided Sleeving is another option (here: https://lnkd.in/eq3bsNa6), that’s an ultra-fine and expandable sleeving that carefully bundles delicate fibers. Fiber raceways are a third way to safely route and organize fiber optic cables. And some bonus tips — first label everything, especially patch panels and cable trays. You can use patch cords, which provide built-in strain relief and bend radius protection. Then regularly inspect your fiber optic cables for kinks, overbends, and stressed areas.
