Q&A “How Do I Choose the Right Cable Ties for Different Applications?”

Do you need a hand choosing the right cable tie? It’s Anthony again from CableOrganizer® with our latest customer question, “How do I choose the right cable tie for different applications?” And I can tell you choosing the right tie depends on your application, along with the environment the cable tie will be in, and any special requirements (like electrical standards). The material you choose needs to be a consideration. Standard nylon works best for general indoor use, and UV resistant nylon for outdoors. Metals like stainless steel are best in harsh environments, like automotive applications, where extreme strength is needed. When you’re concerned about contaminants in the pharmaceutical and food industries, metal-detectable ties are recommended. After material, we move onto tensile strength, which is how much the cable tie can take before snapping. Small electronics and home applications can handle up to 30 pounds of tensile strength. Office use and medium bundles need between 40 to 50 pounds. For larger industrial bundles you’ll want ties that minimally have 75 pounds. Whatever tensile strength you use, make sure your cable ties are long enough to wrap around your cables. Nylon cable ties work within -40°F to 185°F. Industrial or automotive applications will need ties that can tolerate up in 500°F. And lastly, are cable ties with any special features. Releasable and hook and loop cable ties are great for temporary applications. If you need a label, grab one with an identification tag. If you need to color code, use a tie with a specific color. And when you need cable ties that can attach to a surface, choose a mountable tie. Visit CableOrganizer.com for the entire cable tie category here https://lnkd.in/ewGDNFbx
