Originally created for the military, X-Treme® Tape is a self-fusing wrap made from a special high quality silicone rubber compound. This self-bonding tape will conform to irregular shapes and provide a non-conductive, water and airtight insulating seal. Ideal for use in automotive, electrical, MRO, aerospace, plumbing, home, and outdoor applications. |
- Air and watertight tape seals and protects against leaks and corrosion
- Dielectric strength of 400 Volts per mil to provide insulation on wiring, tools, and other electrical equipment
- MIL-I-46852 and ASTM D150 compliant
- Self bonding tape uses no adhesive so there is no deterioration or breakdown, and no residue is left behind if removed
- Allows you to repair or insulate anything regardless of shape, diameter, or connector size
- Resists UV rays and chemicals for use in harsh environments
- Able to withstand temperatures up to 500°F(260°C) for high temperature applications
- Tape edges won’t roll or collapse, for a solid and secure seal
- A must-have for electrical insulation up to 400Volts/Mil
- Stretches up to 3 times its length, so you know your wrap is air and water tight after curing (fusing)
- Ideal for use:
- In place of heat shrink
- Home Theater cable repair
- Electrical insulation of cable and wire bundles
- Emergency radiator hose and auto exhaust pipe repairs
- Extension cord connections
- Marine conditions (engine compartment, boat riggings)
- Garden hose repair
- Aerospace, military and MRO
- Air duct joints
- Power tools
- Plumbing repairs
Directions for use:
- Clean surface to be wrapped, cut off length to be used
- Peel back a short length of protective film, keep tape clean and dry
- Begin to loop the tape onto itself so it overlaps by at least 50% of its width
- Stretch X-Treme Tape® while continuing to wrap object with “half laps”, removing clear film as you go. For greater pressure resistance, use 2 or more tightly wrapped layers.
- End of tape at final wrap should be complete positioned onto itself
Note: X-Treme Tape’s bond begins to cure immediately upon contact with itself. Repositioning or removal is not recommended after 2 minutes of wrapping.
X-Treme Tape will form a permanent, cohesive bond within 24 hours at room temperature…faster if heat cured at up to 350°F

Comments about 1" Self Fusing Silicone Rubber X-Treme Tape-10ft- Black:
Tons of uses both on and off the water. Used it to wrap my Powerpole stake so I dont have to get fiberglass burrs on me anymore. Used it to tape around the top of my new antenna to protect the cap from uv deterioration. Used it for a temporary fix on a hydraulic line that I had accidentally made hole in.
Good stuff.

Comments about 1" Self Fusing Silicone Rubber X-Treme Tape-10ft- Black:
I used this product to tape around the fiberglass rod of my boat's Powerpole shallow water anchor.
The fiberglass gets nasty with use and sun exposure. Taped the rod from top to about 6 inches from the bottom. Now no more fiberglass shards on my arms or hands.
There is a shrink tube you can buy for about $20. Using this tape saved me $15 and I think it will be way more durable than the shrink tube.
I am going to keep a roll on the boat for emergency water proof repairs.
Happy trails, Mike

Comments about 1" Self Fusing Silicone Rubber X-Treme Tape-10ft- Black:
I started using this product to replace 3M Scotchwrap.
There is no glue backing to deal with this tape. When wrapping apply just enough tension to seal the overlaps. This material works well at headache transitions and can be overlayed with other spec required tapes and seal coats.
When exposed to heating/cooling this product looses a little ductility and makes removal difficult. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm it up before attempting removal. Otherwise it'll come off in chunks. I am happy with the performance and there is no stickum to deal with. Would I recommend this product? You betchca!
