Q:Can this operate while only attached to two posts

Asked by Anonymous user on

A:Answers

  • - Thank you for your question. While it might be able to handle some weight on only two posts, it is not recommended for that type of application.

Comments about Slide-Out Shelf 1 RMS - Quest:

This unit does not fit in a 1U space.
It encroaches on the spaces above and below.
The drawer sides extend 3/16" above and 1/8" below the 1U mounting ears.
To provide minimal operating clearance, you will need to allow at least 1/4" space above and below this unit (because the drawer is easily flexed).
The front mounting brackets have 2 tabs that are fixed and make the assumption that you have a 3 1/4" deep frame on your rack that is drilled front and rear.
The second tab may be unusable or may strike internal structures on your rack.
The rear brackets are held on by screws that are welded to the glides which makes adapting the mount difficult.

This is a good, basic sliding shelf for less-hefty equipment like keyboards (But it can hold up to 55 lbs). It has a perforated design, which is great for preserving the airflow around rack-mounted equipment. [...]
