Assembly Instructions -
- Determine the grommet placement on your desk or table top. Use a template as a guide for a hole saw or jig saw. Tape the pattern to the top.
- Drill a hole in the center of the template large enough to start cutting. Closely follow the circle perimeter with the jig saw blade.
- Feed the power cable and two ethernet pigtails through the hole first and then seat the grommet in place. If the grommet is a little loose for the hole, use some glue or cememt to hold the grommet in place.
- Plug the power cord into a wall outlet. Using a standard Ethernet Patch Cable, plug one end into a wall ethernet wall jack or router and the other end into one of the short pigtails of the Power Tap. Repeat for second ethernet port.
Slide tab back to enable pivoting of the PowerTap. When rotation is complete it will lock in place.

These pop-ups look much better than most, and when closed, hide in the table top very well. For thicker tables, you do have to enlarge the bottom side so that the cords swivel correctly.

I installed the Powertap grommet power data centre in our boardroom table to increase pug access for members using laptops at meetings. Everyone was impressed with the product. Did not really need the data plug since everyone uses WiFi. I love them!

I used two of these grommets in a high end conference table that I just built. They look like they're built to last and compare to some very pricey pop-up grommets. I did have to modify the bottom of the 1 1/8" table slightly to allow for the grommet to swivel properly.

I searched the web for a compact but comprehensive data center that I can install into our conference table. I periodically have meetings with outside people who need access to the internet and I don't like wires running all over and getting into the way. I purchased 2 of these datacenters so I can use one network outlet for our conference phone, 2 for internal network connections, and the other for external internet access. It works well, but I do have to be careful flipping it open as the power line is so bulky and heavy that it's difficult getting it flipped. You need to give it a push from under the table, which needs to be done before the meeting, not during. I also had to strenghten the network connection hookups as they seemed to be very flimsy and afraid the wires would get pulled out of the connectors after a few "flips". All in all, I like the compact design and the idea that it remains flat on the table without having the directional pop-ups that other datacenters have so it's accessible to both sides of the table. Finding a 107mm hole saw was a little challenge but I obtained a 108mm (4 1/4") from a home improvement store and it worked OK.
