A nomenclature applied to a port on an Ethernet device that supports all of the 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T standards. Normally, such a port negotiates speed and half/full duplex modes automatically using the NWay auto-negotiation protocol. Some Signamax devices can disable NWay and force a port to a particular speed and/or duplex mode, either programmatically via a management or administrative terminal function, or via DIP switch settings found on the device.
