What’s special about these butt connectors?
These heat shrink butt splices and ring terminals pair polyolefin heat shrink tubing with an adhesive melt liner for secure sealed connections. Simply crimp on the wire then shrink the tubing with a heat gun to permanently seal and protect your connection. |
- Ideal for maintenance and repair of wiring in automotive and electrical applications
- Seamless butt connectors prevent opening of connector barrel
- Wire gauge is imprinted and connectors are color coded for easy identification
- Uniform adhesive formula will not run or disrupt electrical signal

Krimpa-Seal™ Installation Instructions
Butt Connectors
- Strip the wire 5/16 ".
- Select a connector that matches the wire gauge and insert the wire into the connector barrel.
- Make sure the wire is properly seated and crimp the connector using an insulated connector crimping tool nest that matches the color or gauge of the connector. Do not crimp the solder sleeve.
- Repeat steps 1 thru 3 for the other side.
- Apply heat evenly around the length of the tubing (including the crimp area) from the center out to the ends until the tubing fully recovers and the adhesive flows. Remove from the heat and let cool for a SEALED connection.
Rings, Spades, & Slip-Ons
- Strip the wire 5/16"
- Select a connector that matches the wire gauge and insert the wire into the terminal barrel.
- Make sure the wire is properly seated and crimp the terminal barrel using an insulated connector crimping tool nest that matches the color or gauge of the terminal.
- Apply heat evenly around the length of the tubing (including the crimp area) until the tubing fully recovers and the adhesive flows. Remove from the heat and let cool for a SEALED connection.
For Best Results:
- Use a heat device of at least 400° F
- When using an open flame, do not isolate the flame on one area of the tubing
- Distribute the heat evenly
- Overheating the connector may cause damage to the tubing
- Rating: 105° C
- 600V maximum building wire
- 1000V maximum in signs and fixtures
- Not for Multiple Wire Connectors
Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI)
The ratio of how much oxygen - as compared to other gases - needs to be present in the air surrounding a particular material in order for that material to burn. The fact that Earth's normal atmospheric air contains around 21% oxygen is used a reference point when materials are classified into burn categories that are based on Limiting Oxygen Index. Substances that are combustible in air containing less than 21% oxygen are considered flammable, while those that burn in the range of anything greater than 21% but less than 28% are typically labeled "slow burning". Any material with an LOI that exceeds 28% is classified as self-extinguishing.
In the table below, you'll find a list of polymers commonly found in our heat shrink tubing and braided sleeving products, along with their LOIs and the burn categories each falls into.
