Hoffman & RoHS Directive

Hoffman recognizes the importance of offering products that comply with the requirements of the European Union Directive 2002/95/EC Restriction on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (“RoHS”).  RoHS sets maximum concentration values of six restricted substances in certain electrical and electronic products identified by European Union Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“WEEE”), the companion directive to RoHS, which is discussed in further detail below.  Two years ago, Hoffman anticipated the impending customer need for compliant products and dedicated a team of people to conduct due diligence and establish processes to provide RoHS compliant products.  Our efforts have been based on the limited guidelines and implementing regulations available as of July 1, 2006.

RoHS compliant products are signified in the on-line catalog with a RoHS symbol.

We continue to release RoHS compliant enclosures and related products by catalog number. To check whether a product is compliant and to obtain a RoHS Declaration document for your records, contact Hoffman Customer Service.

The carton and product label of a compliant product are marked with the letters "RoHS."

Hoffman & WEEE Directive

The European Union Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment mandates the environmentally sound disposal of electrical and electronic products.  Enclosures manufactured by Hoffman protect electrical and electronic components that may fall within the scope of this directive, but the enclosure itself is not subject to WEEE.  Hoffman encourages environmentally responsible disposal of such equipment.  Local governments legislate disposal rules and regulations and should be consulted for specific details.
