FG is available in Natural, Black, Tan, Red or Yellow. Saturated Fiberglass (FGS) sleeving is made in a similar fashion as the FG, except after heat treatment, it is saturated with acrylic resin formulated to provide excellent fray resistance when cut. The resin also stabilizes the fibers, which reduces operator skin irritation. Although the acrylic resin degrades at operating temperatures above 200°C, FGS continues to provide thermal and space factor insulation as high as 650°C with continuous operation at 450°C.
- Thermal Class 240°C
- UL VW-1
- Dielectric Grade C-3 (no dielectric guaranteed)
- Resists solvents and engine fluids
- 1:1.25 expansion ratio
- Lightweight and flexible
- Compliant with the European Union's Restrictions on the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive
- Cuts easily with scissors
- High abrasion resistance
- Contains no asbestos
- Non corrosive to metals
- Excellent resistance to moisture, fungus and chemical attack
- Continuous operating temperature -94°F to 1200°F
Fiberglass (FG) is used in high temperature, low voltage (up to 300V) applications such as toasters, coffee makers, and other small heating appliances. Its flexibility and expandability allows for use over irregular shapes. It is also used in wire harness assemblies as well as for thermal protection of insulated wires against damage from external heat sources. It is also an ideal choice for sleeving applications where varnishing or vacuum pressure impregnation is used.
