install step 1 install step 2 install step 3
Strip the wire 3/8". Select a connector that matches the wire gauge, slide it over one of the wires, separate the wires strands, and push them together to intermingle the wire strands. Slide the connector and center the solder sleeve over the intermingled wire strands. Apply heat evenly around the length of the tubing from center out to the ends until the tubing fully recovers and the adhesive flows. Continue distributing the heat over the solder sleeve until the solder flows into the wire strands. Remove from the heat and let cool for a PERFECT connection.

shrinking the splice on the wire does hold the wires in place. I also twist the wires and slide the splice over the connection and then heat the splice. I have not had one splice come apart and I have used over 200. You save time and money by not having the splice separate.

Comments about National Standard Parts Associates Inc Elektralink Sealed Solder Butt Splice 22-24 Awg 50 Pack - Clear:

I finally got tired of wires pulling loose from a standard butt splice, especially on automotive wiring(18 to 24 gauge). It is very important to shrink the wrap around the wires before heating the solder. This holds the wires in place.

Comments about National Standard Parts Associates Inc Elektralink Sealed Solder Butt Splice 22-24 Awg 50 Pack - Clear:

These are of good quality...to good in reality. The solder is too thick and does not distribute well with the timing of the heat shrink part of the connector. You must continue to heat the connector to get the solder to melt after the heat shrink has already completed it's job. This can lead to overheating of the heat shrink and the wire insulation.

I have used these extensively in automotive applications. When they work correctly, they are the absolute best vibration and weather proof connector. Apparently the ones I have used previously to these were another brand (I no longer have access to them, retailer out of buss.), as the timing on them was perfect.

I wish this retailer carried them because ordering from CO was a perfect experience.
