Everything from christmas lights to major eletrical installs... this a tool I would not be without. When voltage is found it lights up and makes sounds. The possibility of being shocked by wires that you thought were not live is so great, and having a Sniff-it around to prevent this makes so much sense. I bought it to re-wire a fan in my garage. I wasn't sure which fuse shut off the power and the sniff-it kept me from being shocked when I hit the wrong breaker switch.
