Corning UniCam® connector is the perfect solution for all field installable multi mode and single mode fiber optic connector requirements. The quick installation reduces overall labor costs of connectorization making the Unicam connector cost effective for all fiber applications, from the main-cross connect to the workstation. |
The Unicam® connector can best be described as a mini pigtail. It contains a factory installed fiber stub that is fully bonded in the ferrule. The other end is precisely cleaved and placed into the patented alignment mechanism of our mechanical splice. Both the field fiber and the fiber stub are fully protected from environmental factors. This labor saving field installable connector requires no polishing unlike other non epoxy connectors
- Easiest field termination on the market!
- Only 2 minutes per fiber for installation
- Requires no field polishing, no epoxy, no power cords, or polishing films needed
- Economical cost for all fiber terminations
- Fastest termination time in the industry
- Reduced labor time and cost
- Compliant with ANSI/TIA/EIA – 568-B.3

Comments about CORNING SC UNICAM CONNECTOR 62.5um MM Composite Ferrule:
I use these connectors to terminate all MM fiber on my LAN. They are easy to use and coupled with the Corning termination kit, the connections come out professionally done. One tip is to remember to put the cable sleeve on the fiber before you terminate.

Comments about CORNING SC UNICAM CONNECTOR 62.5um MM Composite Ferrule:
The Unicam connectors have made managing our fiber network easier, reduced time to terminate by 80% or better, and they've proven reliable in our LAN and WAN. The only negative I have is that they don't have a really tight hold on the end of the jacket, so they have a bit of a flimsy feel to them. We've had some broken fibers when the tech pushed against the jumper jacket causing the fiber to buckel between the end of the jacket and the end of the crimp. Maybe we need to do a better job of install, but so far haven't found a way around this. There needs to be a way to crimp the kevlar to the connector as it presently does, but to include the fiber jacket also so you get a more robust connection. Other than that, we're using hundreds of them successfully.
